Thrive Scholars Welcomes George Spencer as Chief Impact Officer
LOS ANGELES, March 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Thrive Scholars proudly announces the appointment of George Spencer as Chief Impact Officer. With a background in education, philanthropy, and institutional growth, Spencer brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to his new role.
In his new position, Spencer will focus on building brand equity, driving growth strategies through innovation, strengthening strategic partnerships, and enhancing organizational efficiencies to further expand Thrive Scholars’ mission and impact.

Spencer joins Thrive Scholars from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), where he held several key leadership positions, including Chief Innovation and Growth Officer and Senior Advisor to the President and CEO. During his time at TMCF, Spencer led initiatives that reshaped opportunities for students and institutions, contributing to over $500 million in educational assistance and programmatic support.
Thrive Scholars CEO, Drew Martin, expressed enthusiasm about Spencer’s appointment, citing his strategic vision and innovative mindset as valuable assets for the organization’s growth and success.
Spencer’s career spans the nonprofit, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, with notable roles at companies like Allianz, Interactive Corp (IAC), LendingTree.com, and Bank of America. He has also been involved in governance positions, serving on various boards including Chapin Hall and NYU’s Metropolitan Center for Urban Education Executive Council.
With an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte’s McColl School of Business, a B.S. in Computer Science from Norfolk State University, and Executive Certification in International Business Management from Georgetown University, Spencer brings a diverse skill set to his new role at Thrive Scholars.
