MY E.G. Services Berhad and Beitou IT Innovation Collaborate to Establish AI Lab in Malaysia
In a significant development, MY E.G. Services Berhad (“MYEG”), Malaysia’s leading digital services company, has partnered with Guangxi Beitou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. (“Beitou IT Innovation”) to create the Malaysia-China AI Innovation and Cooperation Centre. This collaboration aims to bring together global leaders in blockchain, AI, and robotics to work towards the shared vision of the governments of Malaysia and China to advance artificial intelligence technology.
The official exchange of agreement was witnessed by Governor of Guangxi Government Mr. Lan Tianli and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry YB Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 10, 2025.
The joint initiative follows the signing of a Government-to-Government Memorandum of Understanding between China and Malaysia on AI development. MYEG and Beitou IT Innovation have been selected to establish a unique G2G lab that will bring together leading AI companies from China and ASEAN to develop localized AI products and enhance cross-border applications.
Key players in the industry such as China’s Deepseek, DJI, Leju Robot, Huawei Technologies, Alibaba Group, and Malaysian IT services provider Heitech Padu Berhad will participate in the AI Lab, which will be located at Zetrix Tower in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The focus of the lab will be on integrating Blockchain, Generative AI, and robotics technologies to customize AI services according to local culture and values.
One of the primary services to be introduced is the mutual recognition of national Digital IDs between Malaysia and China, starting with Guangxi Province. This service will allow citizens from both countries to use their digital IDs for various identity verification requirements, especially for KYC processes at financial institutions and tourist attractions.
To support this joint effort, the Guangxi provincial government has allocated RMB10 billion through an investment fund to facilitate the development of projects under the China-ASEAN program.
Beitou IT Innovation Group Chairman Lai Shuiping expressed pride in connecting China’s AI resources with Malaysia and ASEAN, emphasizing the potential for increased productivity through AI collaboration. MYEG Group Managing Director TS Wong highlighted the convergence of blockchain, robotics, and AI technologies, positioning the partnership to offer cutting-edge products and expand to other ASEAN countries.
MYEG has established exclusive partnerships with major Chinese government agencies, positioning its public blockchain network, Zetrix, as the preferred platform for implementing real-world Web 3 and AI applications for cross-border transactions.
In conclusion, the collaboration between MY E.G. Services Berhad and Beitou IT Innovation represents a significant step towards advancing AI technology in Malaysia and strengthening ties with China. The establishment of the AI Lab and the integration of blockchain and robotics technologies are poised to revolutionize cross-border transactions and enhance productivity in the region. This partnership sets the stage for future innovation and collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence.
