Climate Change Symposium: Addressing the Greatest Health Challenge of Our Time
On April 15, 2021, clinicians, clinical and hospital leaders, health professionals, and students came together virtually for a half-day symposium on the pressing issue of climate change. The event took place on April 28th, 2021 from 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM EST and featured engaging lectures and panel discussions that delved into the clinical practice implications of climate change and strategies for overcoming the challenges it poses to healthcare delivery.
Hosted by NEJM Group, Emory University Woodruff Health Sciences Center, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, this conference brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the impact of climate change on healthcare practices. The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors such as Emory Healthcare, Grady Hospital, Mercer University School of Medicine, Morehouse School of Medicine, and The Southeast Permanente Group.
In addition to the sponsors, the event had valuable partnerships with organizations like the Georgia Climate Project, Georgia Clinicians for Climate Action (GCCA), Resilience and Sustainability Collaboratory, Sustainability Initiatives, and The Southeast Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PESHU). Participants in the symposium were eligible to earn up to 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits, highlighting the importance and relevance of the topics covered.
