Huawei Launches Four Innovative Optical Solutions for AI-Centric F5.5G Networks, Revolutionizing Connectivity

During the Green Optical Network Forum held at the MWC 25 in Barcelona, Kim Jin, the vice president of Huawei’s optical product line, introduced four innovative optical solutions aimed at helping global operators build F5.5G all-optical networks focused on artificial intelligence. The global artificial intelligence industry is thriving, accelerating the commercial use of 10 Gbit/s home broadband connections and 1 ms all-optical metropolitan networks. Huawei’s innovative solutions provide operators with comprehensive tools for network implementation.

Optical Access Network:
With the rise of artificial intelligence, there is a need to upgrade CO to 50G PON to provide ubiquitous 10GE access. Huawei introduced the intelligent OLT MA5800T X17 solution last year. Now, they are introducing models X15, X8, and X2 to meet different capacity requirements. These models have the highest transmission capacity in the industry and support high-density 50G PON, enabling operators to build networks to support future developments. The new FAN Intelligent Engine architecture works with NCE to support private line services at the application level, optimize Wi-Fi between users, and plan on-demand computing power, helping operators achieve a “network as a service”.

Metro Network:
Last year, Huawei introduced an all-optical AI-oriented Metro network architecture, enabling one-millisecond latency for DCA and DCI. They now offer the fastest 2T board solution with a single wavelength in the industry. With the new TFLN modulator, the capacity of a single wavelength has increased from 1.6 Tbit/s to 2 Tbit/s, reducing bit costs by 20%. The Ocean Current energy-saving algorithm automatically turns off idle circuits based on real-time traffic, saving up to 50% of energy consumption. The system actively detects fiber latency, supports latency map display, and AI service planning.

Backbone Network:
The OSN 9800 K series, introduced last year, is the first OTN solution oriented towards direct current in the industry. The new K12 model supports multiple scenarios with smaller footprints. With improved FEC algorithms, K12 achieves 30% better performance and a 1000 km longer reach for 800G. It reduces optical switching time to 50 milliseconds for hybrid ASON, optimizing network costs while maintaining 99.9999% availability. The system also introduces dual-power dual-receive switching and a fast deduplication algorithm for AI computation efficiency.

Intelligent Management and Control:
Huawei’s iMaster NCE introduces AI for intelligent management and control. The HBB Agent can actively identify and fix quality issues within a minute, reducing user complaints by 60%. The digital map can identify network and service risks and automatically resolve issues within 15 minutes.

“Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the world and bringing unprecedented opportunities for optical networks,” said Kim Jin. “Huawei continues to innovate to help operators build F5.5G all-optical networks focused on artificial intelligence with high quality and efficiency to seize new opportunities.”
