Huawei Launches Upgraded FTTO 2.0 Solution at MWC 2025

BARCELONA, Spain, March 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — During the MWC 2025 event, Huawei unveiled the FTTO 2.0 solution upgrade to support the development of 10G campus networks.

Perry Yang, President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Domain, announced, “For campus networks, Wi-Fi 7 has entered the launch phase, and the shift from copper to fiber has become the preferred choice for many clients. To date, over 10,000 campuses worldwide have implemented the FTTO solution.”

Huawei introduced the FTTO 2.0 solution in 2024 to facilitate the continuous evolution of campus networks from 10G to 50G. This new solution features four major upgrades:

1. Bandwidth Upgrade: Huawei launched the industry’s first commercial 50G PON for high-performance campus scenarios like VR classrooms and pathological diagnostic rooms. By upgrading from a 10G PON to a 50G PON network, users can experience 50G speeds in classrooms and 10G via Wi-Fi, providing ultra-high-speed internet and multiple network services over a single fiber.

2. Scenario Upgrade: Huawei introduced the 10G P883H optical terminal for smart classroom scenarios, supporting 2.5 Gbps to terminals for smoother online course delivery. For office settings, Huawei released the high-performance 10G W817C optical Wi-Fi 7 AP, enabling seamless mobile connectivity without disconnection.

3. Multi-Campus Upgrade: The multi-tenant network management platform, One NMS, can manage multiple MSP tenants, reducing redundant constructions, simplifying operations, and cutting O&M costs by 30%.

4. AI-Based Automatic Planning: Huawei launched the industry’s first AI planning tool for fully optical campuses, automating network design by identifying CAD drawings and generating configurations, reducing design time from two days to one hour.

In addition to these upgrades, Huawei also introduced specific solutions for various sectors, such as the 10G Panel ONU P892M for hospital services, the 10G Wi-Fi 7 W817T AP for outdoor hotel areas, and the E853E optical gateway for educational MAN scenarios.

These advancements demonstrate Huawei’s commitment to enhancing campus network capabilities and providing innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of different industries.
